Co-Founder at Equicap Asia, Jayant works across all aspects of business development, sourcing & investment management activities for infrastructure investments in South Asia for InfraCo Asia. Jayant is also responsible for financial modelling, transaction structuring and legal documentations across the potential and active investments in the region. Jayant also serves on the board of InfraCo Asia investment companies for guidance and stewardship ensuring efficient & timely development of investments.
Prior to Equicap, Jayant was a part of the South Asia Infrastructure Team at Nexif where he was instrumental in raising debt finance from World Bank & IFC for a hydro project in Nepal. At Nexif, as part of the South East Asia Investment Team, based in Vietnam, Jayant led the efforts to successfully raise financing for a stalled & stressed hydro power plant, worked with team on EPC restructuring and re-started construction. Prior to Nexif, Jayant served at The AES Corporation, evaluating potential hydro investments in India & Nepal.
Jayant is a management graduate from Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta & received his Bachelors in Technology from Indian Institute of Information Technology.
A Master of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, Pradeep Shah has work experience of over 39 years in infrastructure project development mostly in power development and EPC space (Engineering, Procurement and Construction of Power plants) involving several different technologies.
Currently a part of Equicap Asia management and shareholder team, he is actively involved in building the infrastructure project portfolio of IAD in South Asia, where he guides and mentors project leads in development, financial closure and execution of investment opportunities.
As a member of various project management teams, he has worked on a very diverse portfolio of projects involving different technologies like Gas turbine based combined cycle plants, coal based subcritical and supercritical plants, cogeneration projects and renewable energy projects involving hydro, wind and solar technologies.
He has experience in infrastructure projects in the capacity of lead developer, advisor and shareholder. He has evaluated over 100 projects for investment, development & EPC execution and has been involved in successful implementation of 18 infrastructure projects.
His project experience spans across South Asia and Southeast Asia. His professional experience includes an employment of over 30 years with Tata Power Company and Larsen & Toubro in India. He has implemented a portfolio of large thermal and hydro generation power projects from Concept to Commissioning.
He has also been involved as an advisor in the execution of projects of Infraco Asia in Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh largely in renewable space from 2012 to 2016.
Mr. Rakesh garg – A Chartered Accountant by profession has more than 28 years of experience in the field of consultancy. He is the consultant to the two largest listed companies in this space i.e. Gateway Distriparks Limited and Allcargo Logistics Limited.
He was director in Depe Global Shipping Agencies Private Limited for six years, who were agents of Evergreen and Uniglory, both shipping lines with headquarters in Taiwan. During his tenure with Depe Global Shipping Agencies Private Limited the Group promoted a greenfield CFS in New Mumbai which was a joint venture with CMA CGM, a French shipping line. Mr. Rakesh Garg was instrumental in the position of land, government approvals, financial closure, construction etc.
He represents the CFS Association, Mumbai & Chennai, for policy matters with the ministries in Delhi.
For Gateway Distriparks Limited, he has helped them to setup new projects as well as acquisition of existing projects in Delhi and Chennai. Similarly, for Allcargo Logistics Limited, he has setup facilities at Delhi, Chennai, Mundra, Indore etc.
He has helped many companies to set up facilities in India including APL, NYK, L&T, Sanco, Hind Terminal(MSC), to name a few.

Prior to Equicap Asia, Shakti has worked with Gurans Energy (a subsidiary of InfraCo Asia), Feedback Infra, AES India, Moserbaer India, Housing and urban Development Corporation Ltd.(HUDCO), Mott Mac Donald Consultants India and Subhash Projects and Marketing Limited.
He has demonstrated expertise in feasibility study, detailed engineering, IPP and EPC bidding and evaluation, project planning & management, contract management, project structuring, project finance, financial modelling, risk analysis, business development, strategy, techno-commercial due diligence, deal structuring & negotiation, investment decision making, merger and acquisition etc.
He has delivered milestones in water and waste water, transportation, conventional and renewable energy, solid waste Management and other urban Infrastructure sector projects.
Vivek heads business operations for Equicap Asia and serves on the Board of several investment companies of InfraCo Asia. Vivek is involved in originating and executing transactions within infrastructure space across South Asia region on behalf of InfraCo Asia Development Pte Ltd. In this role, he is responsible for providing expert advice on key business aspects and managing critical project development activities. In his prior roles, Vivek spent four years with ‘NexifInfraCo Management Pte Ltd’ and five years with 'The AES Corporation', focusing on project development, structuring financing transactions and M&A in the energy industry. Vivek has also worked with Power Finance Corporation in India, where he was responsible for project appraisal for thermal and renewable power projects in India.
In his career so far, Vivek has experience of debt syndication of over US$ 5 bn and M&A transactions for asset value in excess of US$ 3 bn. Vivek is an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and has received a Bachelor of Engineering from Mumbai University.
A Chartered Accountant and Company Secretary by profession, Akhil Prashar has an experience of over 10 years in setting up accounting and compliance practices of Corporates, mostly in services sector, involving differentiated businesses from consulting, retail, media and infrastructure related services. His areas of expertise are corporate finance, regulatory compliances, corporate reporting, taxation, design and implementation of internal controls and fund-raising.
Currently a part of Equicap Asia management team, Mr. Prashar handles Accounts, Finance & Compliance function of Equicap Asia and overlooks investor reporting, implementing and monitoring budgetary controls, funds management, compliance with corporate financial policies, regulatory compliances and audits for projects handled by Equicap. Hisrole also entails him to handlereporting on compliance of client group policies on business development and corporate management.
His previous experiences span across spearheading finance function ofmid-sized corporates, redefining systems and controls in Public sector undertaking, consulting Japanese multinationals on setting up their finance practices in India, working with top tier professional firms in handling audits of multinational conglomerates and liaison with Government authorities vis-a-vis approvals for setting up businesses within and/or outside India
In the past, he has also been involved as Finance professional in the execution of Agri project of Infraco Asia in India.
Arooj heads Pakistan Operations for Equicap Asia and is responsible for originating and executing investment opportunities in greenfield infrastructure projects in Pakistan. He has over 17 years of experience in power and financial sectors. Previously he has worked as a Project Director for three years in Burj Capital Pakistan, CFO for three years in Creative Energy Resources (CER) Corporation, Dubai (a subsidiary of Saudi private equity firm, SwiCorpJoussour and an investment of IFC), Associate Director, Acquisition & Project Finance in ACWA Power Dubai; Vice President, Corporate Finance in Crosby Securities and Director for eight years in AES Corporation Pakistan (700MW/Oil). He has successfully closed a number of greenfield power projects and M&A transactions (wind, thermal & hydro) in past and has worked on projects in Pakistan, Oman, Egypt, Bulgaria, Nigeria, Kenya and Saudi Arabia. He did his Master in Business Administration from University of Central Punjab, Pakistan.
With over 23 years of experience, Faisal Chaudhury has overseen multiple power project development cycles and asset management in various capacities. Faisal has worked extensively in the South Asia region with a major focus in Bangladesh and boasts of successfully negotiated number of agreements with the Government of Bangladesh in respect of 3 different IPP projects; He also successfully negotiated a conversion of gas fired plant to liquid fuel plant and FSAs with Bangladesh Petroliam Corporation during his term with Pendekar Energy.
Faisal has been instrumental in achieving financial closing for 2 large IPP projects in Bangladesh for an investment of around USD 0.5 Billion by AES Corporation. He has worked in Bangladesh and Singapore holding senior management roles for AES Corporation, Globeleq Ltd., Pendekar Energy and Nexif Energy before joining with Equicap Asia as Country Manager for Bangladesh.
As Regional Country Manager with Pendekar Energy, he was responsible for 920MW generating assets in Bangladesh, and 200 people apart from representing the firm on the boards of investments in Sri Lanka & Pakistan.
Previously with Nexif, he was heading Bangladesh and playing an instrumental role in the development of 2 x 50MW wind in Pakistan by Infraco Asia; He also successfully negotiated a tariff and obtained LOI from the government for a 225 MW gas fired CCPP in Bangladesh on behalf of Infraco Asia.
Faisal holds M.Sc. degree in Applied Physics and Electronics from Dhaka University.
Dr Gyanesh joined the Environmental and Social Responsibility team of Equicap Asia as a Associate Director. Prior to Equicap Asia Dr Gyanesh worked with ADB and World Bank funded projects and assisted Asia Pacific region countries industry and governments on environment, social health and safety management issues. Dr Gyanesh has 17 years of global experience working on environment and social issues. As an international expert, he has built up extensive experience in value creation, research, capacity building, and management of environmental and social health and safety issues. Dr Gyanesh was also associated with DFID funded capacity building of safeguard policy and compliance TA for India Infrastructure Finance Facility which is considered as successful in achieving the intended impact of strengthening organisations in-house capacity to expand its operations in line with its business plan. Under the line of credit the adopted Audit approach is one of ADB’s notable achievements through IIPFF because this was the first time ADB conducted a safeguard audit for a financial sector–based project.
Dr Gyanesh was also involved with pacific region rehabilitated and climate-resilient land and maritime transport Infrastructure project which was global first of its kind where ADB and the World Bank agreed on a common approach to safeguards.
Dr Gyanesh has a PhD and specialised in River Habitat diversity and ecological studies. He is also a Sustainable Development Technical Working Group Member of Initiative for Climate Action Transparency (ICAT) which will provide policymakers around the world with tools and support to measure and assess the effectiveness of their country’s climate actions in line with the Paris Agreement. The implementing partners are UNEP DTU Partnership (UDP), Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and World Resources Institute (WRI). The Climate, Community & Biodiversity Alliance and Rainforest Alliance are also supporting partners and will contribute to specific aspects of the initiative. The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) manages the trust fund through which the work is funded.

Currently, he is focal person for Equicap Asia and IAD in Nepal for project development and business development activities in Nepal. As a residential representative of IAD/Equicap in Nepal, he is following the construction activities of Kabeli-A hydroelectric project and evaluating various investment opportunities in Nepal.
He has experience of project operations of 60 MW Upper Khimti -1 and 45 MW Upper Bhotekoshi hydro projects in Nepal, which were the first two hydro projects developed by private sectors with FDI in Nepal. He also has extensive experience of project development of 650 MW Tamakoshi-3 and 67 MW Kirne hydroelectric projects in Nepal and worked as a key member for financing, government and stakeholders’ relations, sales arrangement etc.
In past, he has involved in the due diligence of more than 15 infrastructure projects. He worked for multinational companies like Statkraft, SN Power, Panda Energy and CDC Group. He has also worked as visiting faculty for MBA colleges in Kathmandu.
Jesica has a masters degree in Economics and over 7 years experience as strategy and macroeconomic analyst consultant across organizations such as Philips India, Aramco, British Tourism, ASSOCHAM and has done consulting assignments for retail consumer products. Until recent, she was working as a Senior Analyst (Deal Desk & Transaction Advisory) for an Indian International Property Consultant (IPC) for commercial/industrial land and capital development investments- M&As, urban space planning and workplace research strategy. As Senior Analyst with Equicap Asia, she supports project development, advisory and compliance reports.

Radhika Bansal joined Equicap Asia in June 2016. With over 9 years of professional experience in Agriculture, Logistics, Urban Infrastructure and Renewable Energy sector, Radhika brings in expertise in project finance, deal origination, evaluation and due diligence, structuring and negotiations. Previously, Radhika was a part of team responsible for origination, review, structuring and execution of investments for Nexif in South Asia. In her prior roles with Crisil Infrastructure Advisory, Radhika has been extensively involved in advisory services to various regulatory commissions in India, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy & various IPPs. Radhika has also led multiple studies including drawing Renewable Purchase Obligation trajectory for the 12th plan period and assessment of GBIs for solar IPPs in India. Radhika has also advised various government linked entities and the private sector on opportunities in the infrastructure sector.
At Equicap Asia, Radhika is involved origination, review, structuring and execution of investments in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Radhika has a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra and a MBA (Finance and Marketing) from Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad, India.
Rajesh Kumar has More than 11 year of experience of Project controlling monitoring, project management, Project development and construction Management. Prior to joining Equicap Asia, he was working with TATA Consulting Engineers Ltd, Astarc Power Pvt Ltd, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd, Green Power International Ltd and Kirloskar Ferrous Industries limited. He was associated with the projects like 6 x 660 MW Kendal Thermal Power Plant in South Africa, 3 MTPA Integrated steel plant in Orissa India, PVC Resin Chemical Plant in Ethiopia, 11 MTPA integrated steel plant Jamshedpur India, 5 x 800 MW Ultra super-critical thermal Power Plant (TATA power) Mundra Gujrat India.
At Equipcap Asia Rajesh Kumar is responsible for planning, scheduling, monitoring across the Equicap portfolio and also keeps himself involved in project development and project implementation activities. Sunil is a clean energy professional having over 14 years’ experience of creating infrastructural development impact at several IPPs and operators of utility and commercial scale RE plants including Azure Power and Orange Renewables. For his contributions towards the deployment of solar PV he has been awarded prizes by the SBF at Austin Texas, USA and by Mission Energy Foundation.
Dayal has been a part of the High-level VVIP delegation that accompanied the Hon’ble President of India Mr. Ram Nath Kovind to Croatia in March 2019. The delegation met the Hon’ble President of Croatia Ms. Kolinda Gabar Kitarovic to sign several bilateral MoUs including energy.
He is a regular contributor of articles to Energy Next (The official magazine of IREDA, Govt. of India) and EQ International besides being a member of Renewable council and EU business promotion council at ASSOCHAM.
At Orange Renewables, Sunil led the due-diligence of several investments. His primary
responsibilities included to be a part of the project development team that raised AT Capital
funded Orange Renewables to 350 MW from scratch. The organisation got ﬁnally sold off to
Greenko in 2018 for an enterprise value of $1Billion.
Being a part of the strategy and supply chain team at NASDAQ listed Azure Power, he
improved the commercial viability and additionality of projects. Apart from this Sunil played an active role in pre-bid strategy, business excellence, and IPO due-diligence.
Sunil has advised global PE funds, European utilities, Multi & Bi-Lateral agencies and
Government on RE and Power related areas At Equicap Asia, Sunil is involved in origination,
